With the holiday season now behind us, we take a moment of quiet reflection to contemplate the journey we’ve experienced over the past year. In this blog post, we’ll review the milestones achieved in 2024 and unveil some of our top highlights.
Company Achievements
Expanding Campus
This year, we proudly finished our latest building on campus. In the future, this facility will house members of the Open Dental team, but it also currently serves as the location for our on-site daycare. Our daycare primarily caters to the young children of various Open Dental employees. It features multiple classrooms, an outdoor play area, an indoor gym, and a dedicated and experienced teaching team.
Company Culture
Many of our staff have become close friends and created various clubs for employees to participate in shared hobbies and activities.
Our Gardening Club started a community garden this past spring. It quickly became a vibrant hub of activity and collaboration.
The Art Club is a creative space for people to bounce ideas off one another, share their projects, motivate each other for large projects and general troubleshooting for art. We also have daily drawing challenges to get those creative juices flowing during the day. All creative mediums are welcome at art club, from our fiber crafters to our illustrators. We’ve been meeting for over a year and even have our own mascot! Amers (Amethyst) the iguana.

Open Dental excitedly released our chairside companion app, ODTouch, as stable.

Open Dental released four major versions as stable in 2024. Here are some of our favorite new features and enhancements.
Message-to-Pay
Message-to-Pay makes patient payments easier than ever. Quickly text or email the patient a link to the Payment Portal where payments can be made from their mobile device.
Enhancements to Frequency Limitations (various versions)
Originally overhauled in version 23.2, frequency limitations supported enhancements to include the ability to utilize customized Code Groups, define Treatment Areas, and specify Age Limits using Code Groups.
Electronic Attachment Updates
EDS (Electronic Dental Service) users can now send attachments electronically when sending claims and preauthorizations.
Electronic attachments for DentalXChange users is easier than ever with updated right-click options.
