Feature Highlight: Intra-Office Chat

In the latest Open Dental release, version 25.3, we’ve introduced a built-in chat feature. Read on to learn more about how this tool can help improve staff communication.

The chat tool can be launched separately from Open Dental, so you can easily communicate with others without interrupting your Open Dental workflow.

Create and Reply to Chats

With the Chat feature, you can communicate with other Open Dental users in your database. Create chats with single users or groups of users.

Notifications

Pop-up notifications make sure you never miss a message, even when Chat is minimized.

Message Replies and Reactions

Add reactions to acknowledge a message or quote a message in a response for a direct reply.

Rich Text Support

With rich text support, you can format text and send hyperlinks.

Chat Settings

Customize settings to determine notification preferences, set a user image, and more.

Additional Information

Chat history is stored in the Open Dental database and can be queried. It may not be suitable for private or personnel-related conversations.
